While companies like to boast about the integrity of their company and products, watchdog groups are finding that many companies like to hide the truth from their consumers. It’s all about profits of course. Do these companies really care about our life potential as they say, or, are they covering up secrets within their industry? Well, here’s something to take note of. A cancer linked herbicide has been found in more than two dozen popular breakfast cereals and snack bars. Glyphosate, the main ingredient in Roundup was found in 26 of the 28 products the Enviornmental Working Group tested. further, most scientists have mentioned that the amounts are unsafe for children. This ingredient, Glyposate , is the active ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup the mostly used pesticide in the US.Quaker and General Mills have concluded of course that the products are safe and there is NO reason for concern, which to me, makes one concerned! The International Agency for researchhas determined that Glyphosate is “probably” carcinogenic to humans. Monsanto of course the manufacturer of Roundup strongly disputes the findings of Glyphosate is a probable carcinogen and notes that over four decades, the EPA has consistently supported the safe and effective use of Glyphosate. In conclusion, interestingly, just last week, Monsanto was ordered by a court to pay nearly 78$ millon to a man who claimed his terminal cancer was caused by exposure to Roundup. This brings to my knowledge of a story I did many years ago on my sports show Sports beat, where many of the SF. 49ers players who retired from the team and the league, were getting cancers at an alarming rate. After much investigation, it was found that the cancers and illnesses were caused by fertilizers being used on the practice field. The constant practicing on the field supported by the fertilizer was the main reason these players some who died were in poor health. I n a day and age of profits , I trust very little as to what companies say about our food source. From the use of pesticides and herbicides and genetically engineered foods.Lining their pockets. It should be the responsibility for all of us to take a closer look at what companies are doing to our food source and how present it to us. There was a time when the biggest worry was a hair in your cereal, now, it could be your life!
