If you ask most people young or old they will tell you that they have regrets. Few and far between are those who have lived a great life with NO regrets whatever. Why is it then that most people have regrets in their lives and how does one overcome the problem. I believe there are five mistakes people make in life and they go as follows. #1 is, “Don’t sleepwalk through life” many people go through life aimlessly, not sure of what they want. The teen years turn to twenties, the twenties turn to thirties and before one knows it, they are sixty and have regrets over things they never did. I deal with plenty of high school students who have absolutely no clue in what they want to do. With that, the wonder through college bored and for the most part quit, working at mundane jobs they hate without any direction. It is important for parents to direct their kids as they enter high school at the many opportunities that are out there for their kids. Further, by stimulating the high schooler, you give them direction and a better chance of success. Don’t be a sleepwalker, you will be miserable and grow in your old age to be even more miserable with yourself and those around you blaming everyone else for your failure as you proceeded to sleepwalk through life. #2 Live life without fear. many times young people fear they will be failures in their lives. Will I succeed? Will I make enough money? Will I be fired? all these questions can be answered by a firm direction to the path one wants to travel. When you decide in life what it is that you will be or become, then you must clear fear from your mind and have a direct approach. This will not only give you determination, but will add to your sense of well being and hope that you can be what you set to be. #3 Stop Complaining. One of the most depressing things we can be a part of is to hear the bickering and whining and complaining of people around us. Some people are in constant complaint mode blaming and accusing everyone around them. My mother was one of those people who’s attitude was so negative it brought you down even when you were at your happiest. Stay away from negative people and direct your attention to your success mode. Listening to those around you who complain will bring you down. Also, don’t complain yourself. Look at things realistically and have a systematic approach to your drive to success. Complaining only causes consternation and misery. #4 Know your destination. When striving for your goals and success, determine what path to go to get to your destination. You can save time by networking with various internet sites that are geared to help you such as Linked In and others. Your destination in life is what makes you, you. Go in a positive manner and utilize every aspect to achieve your destination. Be assertive but complacent. #5 Enjoy Life. I would rather die on the beach or in the mountains than at my desk. Work should be a tool that allows one to achieve life’s greatest moments. Whatever you enjoy go after it. Don’t allow work to reap the benefits of your life. Your here but a short time. You are a vapor in the cycle of life so, you can live it joyfully with zest, or, you can be a miserable creature that no one wants to be around. Life, success, happiness, is always your choice. CHOOSE WISELY!
